Nursing Facilities – Medicaid – KePro Issues
LifeSpan has been working with providers and representatives of DHMH to address issues with KePro. The most pressing issue involves erroneous take-backs as a result of patient assessments. Jane Sacco, Chief, Long-Term Care Division and Susan Panek participated on the call from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene are examining how many providers may be affected by patient assessments performed by KePro that have resulted in an erroneous take-back of funds. If your facility has had this occur recently or believes that it will be subject to an erroneous take-back (e.g., as a result of the unbilled, verified information from DHMH or KePro's last review), please email Jane Sacco at saccoj@dhmh.state.md.us and copy Danna Kauffman, LifeSpan, an email at dkauffman@lifespan-network.org ASAP.
In addition, the Department is in the process of developing the RFP for the next contract period. The contract with KePro ends January 31, 2011.
Lastly, Jane Sacco's fax number is 410-333-7803. She asked that you continue to send her any issues that you are having with KePro, such as level of care issues, communication issues, etc. and fax her documents associated with these issues (e.g., letter from KePro stating charging $30 for a level of care when the individual is MA pending). Again, you can email her at SaccoJ@dhmh.state.md.us. You should also email KePro headquarters directly as well at mharris@kepro.org and mkohute@kepro.org with your concerns.
Thank you. If you have any questions, always feel free to contact me as well at dkauffman@lifespan-network.org. We will keep you posted.
